Facing the local characteristic natural resources, the laboratory has gradually become an important experimental base for basic theoretical research, product development and high-level applied talents training in Guangxi. The laboratory focuses on the separation, purification and structure identification of functional natural products, especially the biological effects and mechanism of active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicines, screening and developing innovative drug lead compounds with new structures and pharmacological effects, developing the synthesis, structural modification and structure-activity relationship of important active lead compounds, and establishing advanced structures and extracts of traditional Chinese medicines. They have the most complete scientific research instruments and equipment for the study of the structure and properties of organic substances in Guangxi. The laboratory integrates scientific research, teaching, development and production, and carries out scientific and technological innovation activities in close connection with Guangxi's economic construction and social development. Over the past three years, nearly 40 key scientific and technological research projects have been carried out at all levels, and more than 300 academic papers have been published in international and domestic journals, of which more than 100 have been included in SCI and EI, and have won the second and third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Guangxi; 5 have applied for invention patents; 3 have realized industrialization projects with output value of 10 million yuan; and more than 1 million have been trained as master graduates.
